"A Fair Jewess" by Benjamin Farjeon is a nineteenth century novel of illicit love and the illegitimate daughter of a liaison, hidden identities, and lives that intersect over a twenty year period. It would be hard to say much more without giving away some of the plot twists. This is a good novel--though the musings and angst of Aaron Cohen over religious matters can be a bit long--and the characters are created and described well over time so the reader gets to understand them. Overall, this is a work worth reading--a solid nineteenth century morality play and potboiler all in one.Product details
